Welcome everyone to the open house for
dVersepoets today 7.16 at 2 p.m. Hope you like the atmosphere. I will be hosting every other week with FormForAll a continuation of the discussions about poetry, prosody, and forms of poetry. I want it to be an open forum with plenty of room for free discussion and how you approach forms and writing poetry. I will share the spot with Luke Prater's Meeting the Bar: Friday Crit. where we can have discussions about how to improve our poetry. Hope you will join us as often as possible. And thanks for coming by today! Gay
this was just what i needed gay - this is down to earth and logical and i can_see it. I'm excited and would love to sit at the troubadour with you right now with a box of letter blocks on the table..
ReplyDeletesomething as simple as blocks. becomes words, opens whole new universes....nice gay...and now we put them together to spin verse...
ReplyDeleteAnd I will drop by and participate when I can.
ReplyDeleteI want to paint the whole world if I can.
Nice to meet you ~
I like the block metaphor. We take all these small pieces of ourselves and create poems that are, hopefully, larger than ourselves.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Gay...and so wonderful that you are carrying on with the tradition. I have learned so much about form from you. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, the infinite worlds spun from 26 lovely letters. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI loved my blocks--and I love yours. I so remember how frustrated I was as a child that I couldn't read--when I finally learned, I spent the rest of my life catching up. As you say, flying free. This is deviously simple to say so much. Excellent stuff.
ReplyDeletewouldn't miss it! Look forward to tossing the little black letters around! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteGay, this is wonderful as always! I know if there's a soul out there hiding poetry we'll get them to speak it! I am so very excited to open the doors to folks who never dreamed they were as wonderful as they are. And who better to help and encourage than one as talented as yourself! We are all so very lucky to have you! I'm raising my pint of Keith's...here's to you and to dVersepoets!
ReplyDeleteGrat post and great to be doing this with you, sister! Amen. Oh btw does this form have a name 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 ... like a cross between Rictameter and Etheree or Nonet... interesting
ReplyDeleteNope not a name yet. Just "felt" it like building blocks and knocking 'em down. Thanks everyone for stopping off at my table while making the rounds at the pub. You're always welcome so y'all come see us some time, hear?
ReplyDeleteWords certainly can set us all free.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your on-going dedication to poetry forums in the blogosphere, Gay. It is much appreciated.
I like how you used, "ways of espression" - anyone who has spent time around children can adore their wobbly use of words in the beginning :)
ReplyDeleteWe build something up, and something else emerges in its place, with time...the words are ever on-going, their power in-mind ever building, ever forging us anew. Glad to see you're going to be so involved in this project, Gay, it's looking to be a great community!
ReplyDelete"then comes magic: letters make words
ReplyDeletewords bring knowledge and new worlds"
Love the interesting form of your poem and the message...and so glad to know I'll be seeing you involved in this new venture!
Really nice site you have Gay, love the mix of images and words. Will definitely be looking forward to your segment at the pub:)
ReplyDeleteThe more poets, the more blocks, the more beauty. Really looking forward to watching all your hard work come to fruition.
ReplyDeletehaha that was great, love how you used the simplicity of abc blocks and showed they could be so much more.
ReplyDeleteThat's the good thing about alphabet blocks. They're free from the mortar that binds bricks to one place, one shape. Just like the words we form and position in shapes and meanings that we can change at will. Such a wonderful concept here, Gay, working on different levels. At least in my mind and imagination. Thank you.
ReplyDeletei feel childlike wild playing with the blocks today!:)
ReplyDeleteTo start, always with the basics... one can build so much more, to then set it free in the vast universe, standing erect... Look forward to continuing to visit your form forums.
ReplyDeleteAblphabet blocks can cocurrently create words & structures and that makes them perfect for this subject. Love it!
ReplyDeletei'm glad you'll still be doing your form articles, gay!
ReplyDelete{{happy dance}} yay! SO glad you're going to be part of dVerse, Gay. i've learned so much from you. thank you for continuing! dani
ReplyDeleteLast night, I played Big Legos with my 16-month-old grandson. We made every kind of construction we could think of, and still didn't exhaust the possibilities. Just like words, and poetry. Good poem, Gay,
ReplyDelete*picking up blocks, re-stacking them, creating beauty from chaos* Gay, I love it and am looking forward to the events coming forward. Luke is going to do Friday night crit? Awesome! I've never met anyone with his crit-ability before. Oh, this is good, very good.
ReplyDeleteLove both the form and the intention of this piece. Look forward to reading many more of your poems once the pub doors are officially open.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea...the building blocks of words. And that's what we're all about.
ReplyDeleteSimple. True. Beautiful. I'm looking forward to sharing poems and learning from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing nice information with us
