"A happy New Year! Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year."
----Edgar Guest

HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!

  1. See what you mean about Williams, but this reminds me more of a collage of song refrains, sort of stream of conscious-like interruptions of thought and initiated thought-shifts that spring up because of them. It has a feel of new beginnings to it, and I hope this year brings the start of many good things to you, Gay. Thanks again, because I can never say it enough, for all your friendship and support.

  9. Something about the New Year always, as Julie Andrews warbled in "The Sound of Music," Brings Us Back To Go (go go go). And so the round begins again from its ground zero, another trek, another address, another pile of hopes and disappointments: The more rounds we make, the heavier the burden seems ... I loved the free-falling, free-associating musing in this poem, as if the vantage was from a third glass of champagne just after midnight, staring out the window at the dark, considering ... Fine work. Happy New Year's - Brendan

The world play is applaudable, just like a stream falling down flight of stairs. Here's to a new beginning, cheers!
