  4. Everyone needs a secret place. I think as children we had many. We need to find some as adults as well. Your secret place sounds VERY relaxing.

  5. Oh so beautiful.. this secret place is perfect both as metaphor or for real... I think we should hang on the them, and invitation is by sharing only (love that sentiment)

  7. You've certainly touched on something that resonates with me. Reading your work brings back memories of secret places and times, and the moments that enchanted so. Even if we move from touchstone to touchstone as we go through life, the secrets all lead back. Craftsmanship, tone, pace--just right for this. I much enjoyed it. A fine piece.

  8. Some secret moments can best be singly enjoyed alone to get the best feel! Nice to have such a retreat! Nicely Gay!

  12. We should all have a secret place--a refuge--be it physical or mental, shared or solitary. Yours sounds lovely, Gay.

So sorry. Honestly I try not to be hasty, but letters still escape even after a preview.

  18. "I received its key when I was three." -

this struck such a smile on me as I read this, made me wonder if we all received one then also, sometimes just forgetting, not recognizing what it opened ;-)

and really like the second to last stanza, where time and rhyme co-exist from different lines of life - so softly beautiful gay, thank you :-)

  20. And if you came to visit there,
    What secrets would you share?......

Actually, I would come to steal the rock. Do you have any idea what that thing is worth on eBay? Just joking Gay... Of course I immediately recognized your poem as most endearing and representing the uniqueness of every soul..... My own garden is filled with white-barked birch trees and crab apple jellies..... And only those who know me extremely well and of course, I, know the reason why...... Beautiful poetry Poet!

  21. Hey Gay--I have been losing comments like crazy tonight as very tired. This is such a pretty poem--I feel like the rock is a place to write poetry--if so, the garden is one well worth visiting. Thanks much. k.

  22. We have lugged a few stones each time we have moved.... and a bit of beach glass too. Rocks my kids have painted... Yes, everyone needs a nature spot to heal, to reflect, to re-charge. Lovely poem.

  23. I never answered where it is. It's up Hunter Creek in Aspen Colorado. You can't steal this rock. It's about 10 feet in diameter and about 5 feet above the water with other flattened stones leading to it. It has some deep indentations that allow one to climb up onto it and as the water splashes all around it, one can read, meditate or daydream, knit, crochet, sing, play a flute, or whatever takes your fancy.
